Teaser Tuesday: New Level
Enjoy this sneak peek from one of my favorite scenes.
After months in the public eye, Fame and Heaven are approached by MusicIQ Magazine for their "Power Couples" issue and are asked to film an episode of MusicIQ's couple's quiz, Get To Know Me.

“Which of your songs is my favorite?”
“Solo or group?” Fame clarified.
“Both.”
“Your favorite song by Fame & Fortune is Lay You Down. You told me that night we went to Magic City.” I nodded, remembering that night vividly. “I don’t know your favorite Fame song, though.”
I smiled at him before looking into the camera. “It’s not out yet, but Fame has a song with Mecca. It’s Chef’s kiss,” I said then kissed my fingers.
“How does it go?” Fame loved teasing me.
I snapped my fingers then rapped a few bars from the song. Fame joined in, earning a series of laughs from the crew.
“Used to dream of nights like this, wanted a life like this. Sailing off the Amalfi coast, sipping gold bottles, surrounded by models. I wanted to reach a new level.”
“Aye!” Fame cheered when we finished rapping.
My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. It was funny to think how nervous I was before this shoot. Fame’s charm had disarmed me and made me comfortable enough to flirt like we were alone. After an hour of shooting, I no longer cared about the cameras or the people watching us.
Once we regained our composure, I picked up the cards. “Okay, okay. Last question. What's something that you weren't expecting about me that you love about me?”
The humor in his eyes turned serious as he adjusted in his seat. “I wasn’t expecting you to be so insightful and pivotal to my growth so soon. We’ve had conversations about personal shit that make me sit back and think. Whenever I share something with you, I’m met with understanding. You never come off judgmental. I don’t know. There’s something about you that made comfortable sooner than I expected.”
“Key,” I whined. “That’s so sweet.”
“A lot of people don’t get to see the soft loving side of you.” He turned his attention to the camera. “She stands ten toes for her loved ones and is so giving. I went to a cookout with her family in Houston, and everyone said the same thing. I think she realizes now that she has to protect that energy, which makes her come off as hard and unmoving, but underneath all that toughness is a gentle, caring soul. There’s not too many people like her for real.”
“Aww,” came from behind the camera and my cheeks warmed. Just that quickly, I’d forgotten we were in a room full of people.
He winked at me, then looked at the camera. “What’s my score?”
One of the producers held up a white board with the number 20 written in black marker.
“20 points out of 25 ain’t bad,” he mused.
“I gave you a lot of bonus points though.”
He shrugged. “You didn’t have to do that. What’s my prize?”
“I am the prize,” I replied.
His eyes did a slow once-over. “I ain’t mad at it.”
My cheeks warmed, and stomach tightened.
It was time to wrap this up.
“Alright. That’s all for this episode of Get To Know Me with MusicIQ. See y’all later.” I ended the outro by blowing a kiss at the camera.
The director called cut, and everyone clapped. “That’s a wrap on the Q&A portion. We have one outfit change then a shoot on the balcony.”
